TCM and Ayurveda both rely on centuries-old observational diagnostics rooted in the analysis of patterns: the balance of organ systems, constitutional types, pulse characteristics, tongue features, and energy flow.

When these are combined with structural markers such as dermatoglyphic patterns (genetically influenced ridge formations on fingers and palms), auricular reflex points (mapping organ systems to the external ear), and iridological signs (variations in structure, color, and fiber distribution in the iris), the clinician gains a more multidimensional understanding of the patient.
